Dating scene in NYC from the French point of view

I am back...

I just got back from France... and i am BACK!

It is unbelievable how funny it is to be addicted to "this datingonlinescene"! First thing when i got home, checking my emails and see the new faces on the site, I really scared myself.

i start to read the first one, very basic: hi, how are you?, blabla and i checked the profile. Here we go again, 40, bald, the IDEAL GUY! and very crude after 3 sentences exchanged..
i am like what is happening here, my words fail.. this guy is a psycho...

i click for the next one and i realized that i have 10 instant messages, i become nuts... i don't even know who i am talking to... gosh i am loosing it... and then a very nice and" civilized" guy sends me his backstage meaning his pictures.. There are 3 pictures and two that say, more or less ( i can't even remember) " nude pic" with an X on it... ( i think) i am like i must be dreaming or having a nightmare.

And of course, as an human being i want to know if HE REALLY PUT A NUDE PICTURE!!! and then, i click on it... and... OF COURSE HE DID... HELP ME, I AM SCREAMING AND KEEP SAYING' I CANT BELIEVE THIS' i am horrified and almost fell off my chair..... what an A.. how can he show himself like that?

geeeezzzzzz and the guy goes" how did you like my pictures?" the first word that i said was in french
" DEGUELASSE' meaning " DISGUTING".

i got so shocked i called my friend and told her that she could keep her " intimate encounters" for herself and i erased my profile...

A real "blind date"

My friend I. called me a few days ago and tells me that she knows a very nice young guy, French, 34, very smart, listening to her i am thinking hmmm. I forgot to say my friend is from the Chabbad community from Crown Heights, meaning very religious! so i am very skeptical!

SHe insists so much telling me how great he is and i am thinking don't be close minded, you never know! She won and i accept. She explained to me that she told him that i wasn't very religious but i was ready to make some compromises ( depending which ones i was thinking but i didn't say anything! ) and she explained to me as well that what she is doing, it is called a "shiddur" in another language a "blind date" to make simpler! She asked me if she can give him my cellphone and i agreed!

Later in the evening, i received indeed a phone call from this person! Very nice man indeed, we speak half french and half english which is very cool! Lots of humour, it doesn't sound religious after all!

We decided to meet the day after! I called my friend I. and i tell her, she is really excited and she tells me you are going to love him ( that i shall see). I tell her that we are meeting tomorrow!

The day after, he calls me and tells me that he will be coming to pick me up ( waou i am thinking this is nice!) at 4;00pm. My friend I. called me in the meantime and she tells me : PLEASE NO JEANS AND NO SNEAKERS! what i have forgotten to say when we set up the appointement he told me it should be a casual "date" ! So in my mind, it was relaxed! Apparently, the word "Casual" has another meaning! It is 3;30pm, i am freaking out what i am going to wear! I. told me long skirt and shirt sleeves!! I am thinking but it is going to be like wearing a " costume" for me! Anyways, i have no time to think, i changed of clothes and here i am looking like a " pious nice jewish woman"!

My cousin arrived at the same and asked me what are you doing dressed up like that!! Are you going to a "costumed ball?!?" very funny!! It was my feeling as well i have to say!

He is downstairs in the car in front the building, even if i had wanted to miss him! I couldn't have ! he was wearing a long beard, payos and Yarmulka! AND AT THAT MOMENT, i am saying to myself WHAT AM I DOING?

The problem there were no way on earth i could cancel! So i convinced myself that it will be nice to know someone from a different background! ( i really had to try hard!!!!). i got into the car! I couldnt look at him i was so uncomfortable but he was really easy going and made me feel comfortable after 1 HOUR!
He told me we were going BOWLING! BOwling in skirt! i have never done! but hey, i was there already! so we went! we had a good time! What was funny, it seems that it was the place where all the "religious" bring their blind date! So i was in my element!

We stayed there for 2 hours and then he asked me if iwanted to have dinner, i felt i couldnt refuse, he was so nice and very interesting but really not my type!

We went then to a restaurant Upper West SIde and it was really awkard! In the end, i decided to tell him the truth and explain to me that we were from two different worlds, he understood! i felt much better! He brought me back home ( no shaking hands and no hugs you don't do)

I was so glad to be home! I called my friend and i explained to her NO MORE SHIDDUR!

The moral of the story, better to choose by yourself and to go back on JDATE!

From online to real life

I have stopped for half a day my "online duty' it was REALLY diifficult! i got tired of repeating the same thing, try to show who i am! So tonite, i have decided to live the " real thing' ( helped by my friend!)

A friend mentioned to me this new event that takes place every sunday, it is a gathering of jewish people from all around the world it is called Havalight. So i dragged myself there with my friend,( dur very dur! ) when you are use to "shop online for guys"

Anyways, she convinced me to go because she succeeds in getting on the list. Yes, on the list! In order to participate to this event, you have to know a member or one of the organizer! ISN"T IT SIMPLE!!!

So we went, it takes place in the midtown east area in a restaurant called "OPIA"
It is really nice, there is an outdoor space where you can have a drink and smoke" a LUXE' for New York and for us french people!

So we sat and we met interesting people, from Sweden ( ididn't even know there were jews there!) someone else from South Africa, from Chili, from Israel, etc.... it was a really pleasant moment.

the most interesting part of the evening was when we all started talking about " the dating scene" in NYC and, how weird and complicated it is to understand and if there is something to understand, which i am not convinced! What does it mean to date in the US?

I guess " idate you, you date me, we date others will be for another blog!

I have to say it was a really nice simple night, even though there were no potential "dates" but people were really easy going and simple!

After " being such a gentleman" telling me that i was " late' and telling me how late i was and what does it mean in the society world, in the end he started to calm down, maybe the alcool was doing its job! ouf!!

Now we were having a very "banal" conversation: where are you from? how long have you been here?" your english is reallt good WIZ A FRENCHIEE accent zis is so nice! blabla.

I was thinking how bored i am and how boring he is telling me, he went to France, he likes cheese! and i am like but " get real" . this guy was brillant in his Job : he said and so "NUL" for a "DATE".

In the end, i couldn't take it anymore i had to call it a night! I am sure he understood that there were no future! For a single, really single second i was feeling "sad" it is a big word. Yes, before going to the date, i was all giggling and surexited because it felt it could work,, nice looking, good education, jewish, the perfect package!

He had the package but he didn't have the most important thing, being himself! And also, there were no sparks!

After this minute of " sadness" , called my girlfriends " not it is not him, the man of life" NEXT and i ran to my next date, i was late once again!

Acte 1 Scene 1
I got 3 dates this week, hey not bad for a beginning but what an organization, you really need a PDA!

Anyways, the first one, we have chatted for a few days, trading pictures ( they were really old pix when i think about it) Single guy, 34, from united States!

After, being shocked the first thing he told me " you are late" and i am like but i called you to tell you that i was late and i have always thought you always needed to be " fashionably late" for a woman, but it seemed that it wasn't the way he saw it! So it was my second "cold shower" !

Seriously, to go out there to sell yourself out on a website to meet a guy, you must have some guts or be really desperate! i guess i belong to the second category!
